This is our plain-language privacy policy. For removal instructions, see How to delete your data.
Bobby Ho is operated by Bobby Ho (ABN 68 737 566 453) in Australia. You don’t need an account, and we don’t ask for your name or phone number. For privacy questions, access or correction requests, or requests to remove information, email privacy@bobbyho.app.
Device ID. Your device creates a random ID and a private security key so our servers can recognise it and protect its records. The ID is not tied to an account, name or email, but it can link submissions from the same device.
Purchases. Apple handles payments for Expense Pro, Country Packs and Trip Pass; Bobby Ho doesn’t receive your payment card details. To unlock purchases, we receive Apple’s signed purchase receipt and your device ID, and keep a limited purchase record.
Shared deals (on by default). When you save a deal, including a walk-away, it is shared with the Bobby Ho community unless you turn off Share my purchases in Settings → Community. We receive the editable item name, asking and paid prices (or final offer for a walk-away), city, market, currency, time and device ID.
Photos and precise location. A photo is uploaded only if you choose to attach it to a shared deal. Adding precise GPS location is a separate, off-by-default choice for each photo. Photos are stored in Google Drive; anyone with a photo’s link can view it. Your device may use location to suggest your city, but those GPS coordinates are processed locally and not sent to Bobby Ho.
Trip and expense copies (opt-in, off by default). Your trips and expenses are stored on your device. Only if you turn on Crowd spending stats are structured details—such as amounts, categories, dates, countries, currencies, payment methods, ratings and trip budgets—also copied to Bobby Ho’s servers. Names, notes, sellers and locations you type stay on your device. Older versions sent some typed fields; these have been removed from current server records, though Google edit history may retain them.
Ask Bobby. If you use Ask Bobby, your messages, selected city, relevant price data and home currency are sent to Anthropic to generate a reply. Bobby Ho doesn’t store your conversations. Anthropic retains inputs and outputs under its own terms, including possible exceptions; its commercial terms say API messages aren’t used to train its models. Avoid entering passwords, payment details or sensitive personal information.
Feedback. If you send feedback, your rating, message, device information and any optional email address go to a private Google Sheet and the developer’s email. Feedback cannot be removed through the app; email privacy@bobbyho.app to request removal.
How we use it. We use this information to run the app’s features and to understand how the app is used, so we can improve it. We don’t sell it or use it for advertising.
The Bobby Ho website (and any Android app that opens it) uses Google Analytics to understand usage, including page views, scrolling, features used, selected or detected city and home currency. Analytics does not receive Bobby Ho’s device ID, trip or expense details, photos, Ask Bobby messages or purchase details. You can turn it off in the web app’s Settings. Marketing, support, blog and survey pages also use Google Analytics but do not currently offer that Settings switch. The iPhone and iPad app does not use Google Analytics. Google also collects some technical information automatically, under its own privacy policy.
Apple handles payments, purchase receipts and optional iPhone/iPad speech recognition. Google stores shared deals, photos, purchase records and opted-in trip/expense copies, and provides website analytics. Netlify hosts the website and relays requests, and keeps technical logs such as IP addresses. Anthropic processes Ask Bobby messages. Make.com delivers feedback to a private Google Sheet and the developer’s email. ExchangeRate-API supplies exchange rates and receives your home currency code and IP address.
Some services may process data outside Australia. Bobby Ho doesn’t sell your data or use it for advertising.
Shared deals: turn Share my purchases off at any time in Settings → Community. This stops new deals being shared; it doesn’t remove deals already sent.
Trip and expense copies: Crowd spending stats is off by default. You can switch it on or off in Settings → Community. When turning it off, you can choose:
Remove my data from Bobby Ho’s server — available in Settings → Community. This removes identifying information tied to your device across Bobby Ho’s server records and turns Crowd spending stats off. It also blanks the item names, prices and any precise GPS location on your shared deals, and tries to move any photos you shared to the Google Drive trash. Some non-identifying fields remain; Google’s edit history may still retain earlier values. Your on-device trips and expenses remain. Reopen the app or use Restore Purchases to restore purchased access. Share my purchases stays at its existing setting, so future deals may still be shared if it’s on.
Feedback is stored separately and isn’t covered by in-app removal. Contact privacy@bobbyho.app to request its removal. See How to delete your data for details.
Server records associated with a device are automatically de-identified after about 18 months (540 days) without a new shared deal or trip/expense copy. Devices that have only a device record or purchase record are not covered by this automatic process; you can use Remove my data instead. On your device, trips and expenses that haven’t changed for about 18 months are deleted when the app opens; saved wins and settings aren’t affected. Feedback isn’t automatically removed. Some information, including refund records and third-party logs, may remain under separate retention rules.
Bobby Ho handles personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). You can ask to access or correct personal information we hold by emailing privacy@bobbyho.app. If you’re dissatisfied with our response to a privacy complaint, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll post the updated version with a new date. Please review it when changes are made.
